At the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan on Wednesday, November 27, Ikorodu City defeated El Kanemi Warriors 2-0, extending their incredible run in the NPFL.
Nurudeen Aweroro, the interim coach of Ikorodu City, started Salau Yusuf in place of Emmanuel Solomon while Alade Solomon spearheaded the team’s attack. Freedom Marvellous, the talented youngster, kept his spot in the starting lineup following strong recent performances.
The game was goalless in the first half and remained that way until the 62nd minute, when substitute Cole Ayomide passed the ball to Shola Adelani, who then set himself up with a stunning control and smashed a left-footed strike past Kolawale Oladipo, the goalkeeper
Cole Ayomide scored the second goal in the 77th minute as he deftly placed the ball over the goalkeeper’s grasp after receiving a pin point through ball from Oyedokun Tosin. Despite the efforts of El Kanemi Warriors, Ikorodu City gallantly won the game with a clean sheet.

The win means the Oga Boys are now five games unbeaten, and up to 5th on the table with 21 points in 14 games. They are now just five points away from league leaders, Remo Stars. They are also unbeaten at home since losing to Nasarawa United two months ago.
They host Akwa United in their next game as they hope to continue their unbeaten run, and possibly break into the top 4. Meanwhile, El Kanemi Warriors will host Bayelsa United next as they seek to return to winning ways.
