Newly promoted Nigerian Premier Football League side, Ikorodu City, has denied rumours they will sell their league spot, confirming their participation in the 2024/25 season according to Bold Sports.

The club’s football director, Tobi Adepoju, refuted the claims on social media after speculation arose that Ikorodu City was considering selling their spot to relegated teams Sporting Lagos or Heartland FC.

“Since our promotion, the Ikorodu City Board and Management have never considered selling the slot,” Adepoju wrote on microblogging site X, formerly Twitter.

“We are establishing a brand, and our integrity is important. We will compete based on our strengths and give it our best,” the veteran football journalist added.

This statement puts an end to rumors that the club will not compete in the top league next season.

The club joins Nasarawa United, Beyond Limits, and FA Cup winners El Kanemi Warriors as promoted teams, replacing Sporting Lagos, Heartland FC, Doma United, and Gombe United.
