Former basketball player, sports broadcaster, and journalist Mayorkun Owoseni has assured a bright future for the Ibadan Basketball Championship, promising substantial development in the coming years.

Mayorkun Owoseni made this pledge after Hoop Dreams Basketball Club won the title for the second year in a row, defeating Rising Stars 48-41 in a thrilling final at the Adamsingba Stadium Basketball court on January 18.

Owoseni expressed his confidence in the championship’s future while emphasising the dedication of the organisers to achieving growth: “The Ibadan Basketball Championship will get bigger and bigger. We are devoting a lot into it, and that’s a promise to the people of Ibadan and basketball lovers in the state.”

Owoseni also hinted at exciting plans for the future, revealing, “We have a special package in store for subsequent editions.”

Owoseni stressed that the championship’s main objective is to revitalize basketball and show appreciation to the community that has backed enthusiasts of the sport.

“Our aim is to bring back the game and give back to the same community that has given us something to hold on to,” he declared
