Luton Town striker, Elijah Adebayo, says he will love to represent Nigeria at senior level instead of the Three Lions of England.

Adebayo who was instrumental to Luton’s promotion to the Premier League is also leading the club’s survival charge as they look to become the only newly peomoted side with the chance of avoiding relegation at the end of the season.

The striker has scored nine goals for Luton this season including a hat-trick against experienced Premier League side Brighton in a 4-0 win.

The striker, while speaking about his Nigerian root in an interview with Sky Sports on YouTube chipped in that it will be his desire to represent the Super Eagles, Nigeria’s senior men’s national football team.

“Heritage is a big thing for me. My mum was born in Nigeria before she came here (England) obviously I’ve been to Nigeria when I was young an I’m looking to go again,” Adebayo told Sky Sports.

“My grandmother lives in Nigeria. The heritage is there and I’m proud to be Nigerian and I would love to play for Nigeria. It will be a proud day for my mum to see me play for Nigeria,” the 26-year-old added.

The Eagles at the moment is not short on exciting striker with the country bosting of players such as Victor Osimhen, Taiwo Awoniyi, Kelechi Iheanacho, Victor Boniface, Terem Moffi, Gift Orban and a host of others in that position.

Adebayo’s teammate at Luton Gabriel Osho has been called-up to the Nigerian team but pulled out of the friendlies due to injury.
