Hoffenheim head coach Christian Ilzer has revealed that Nigerian striker Gift Orban is integrating well into the team and will soon be handed a significant role.

Orban joined the Bundesliga outfit in January for €9 million from French side Olympique Lyon but has only started once in four league games. Despite that, it seems the 22-year-old has hit the ground running finding the back of the net in his last two appearances for the club in a 2-2 draw against Frankfurt and a 3-1 loss to defending champions, Bayer Leverkusen

Ilzer explained that the reason why Orban has been limited to substitute roles is because he was in the integration process and needed enough time to get used to the processes and interaction with the team, this however, is about to change as he has impressed despite the limited time he’s been given.

“We are working on his integration bit by bit, but we have already made a lot of progress,” said the Kraichgau coach after watching the Nigerian explode in training and on the pitch

The manager confirmed that Orban has all it takes to start games already but he will have to wait a little more for his time, “He can already do it (start games), but he will be able to help us a lot more in the future,” the Austrian coach concluded.

Orban will have to fight for Erencan Yardımcı and Max Moerstedt for a starting role. The manager has always rotated the starting sport between both Yardımcı Moerstedt
