Former England forward Gary Lineker has heaped praise on Alex Iwobi for his stellar performances at Fulham this season.
The Nigerian international has established himself as a key player for the Cottagers, starting every game so far and setting a personal record with five goals and three assists, with 19 matches still to play.
Marco Silva’s side currently sit eighth in the Premier League, putting them in contention for European football next season. Speaking on his podcast The Rest is Football, Lineker commended the former Arsenal academy graduate, saying, “Iwobi has had a terrific season. He’s been around the Premier League for a while.”
The 28-year-old, who previously played for Arsenal and Everton, has struggled with consistency in the past but seems to have found his rhythm under Silva’s guidance. His remarkable form has earned him recognition as the driving force behind Fulham’s impressive campaign, and he is now living up to the legacy of his uncle, legendary Super Eagles midfielder Jay-Jay Okocha.
Iwobi’s versatility has also been a standout feature this season. He has excelled in various roles, including as a winger, central midfielder, and attacking midfielder, proving himself to be a crucial asset in Fulham’s pursuit of success in the Premier League.
