Super Eagles midfielder, Frank Onyeka, has signed a four-year contract extension with Premier League side, Brentford with a club option for an additional 12 months.

The Nigeria international has made a total of 41 Premier League appearances since signing for the Bees back in 2021. The new contract is expected to keep the 25-year-old at the West London side until the summer of 2027.

The new contract is a result of the player’s continuously improved performance for the club in the two years he’s been with the Bees.

“Onyeka has been involved in some of the club’s most iconic wins over the last two seasons, including starts in our maiden Premier League win over Arsenal at Gtech Community Stadium and victory away at champions Manchester City.”

Reacting to Onyeka’s new and improved contract, Brentford manager, Thomas Frank, says he’s been impressed with the performance of the Nigerian since joining the club.

“I’m very pleased that Frank has signed a new contract,” Thomas Frank told the club website. “He has helped the team a lot during our time in the Premier League.

“During both seasons he has been unlucky with injuries, which have prevented him from taking an even bigger step forward in terms of minutes, but I really like his energy.

“Frank is a great pressing player. He runs into the half-spaces and in behind, progressing up the pitch. He’s a very important player for us and we’re looking forward to continuing the journey with him.”
