Nottingham Forest are weighing up a move for Brentford forward Yoane Wissa as a potential replacement for Taiwo Awoniyi, should the Nigerian striker leave the club this January.
With West Ham United pushing to sign Awoniyi, Forest are already identifying attacking reinforcements, and Wissa has emerged as a serious option according to The Telegraph. The 28-year-old DR Congo international has been in fine form this season, scoring 12 goals in all competitions, including a recent strike against Manchester City.
Wissa’s versatility makes him an attractive target, as he can play across the front three. However, Forest are not the only club monitoring him—Arsenal are also reportedly interested, with Mikel Arteta looking to bolster his squad after injuries to Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka.
Since joining Brentford from Lorient in 2021 for £8.5 million, Wissa has become a key player for Thomas Frank’s side. A potential switch to Forest could offer him a more prominent role, especially if Awoniyi departs.

Forest manager Nuno Espírito Santo has played down speculation over transfers but acknowledged the challenges of making signings in January.
“The transfer window in January is very difficult to operate in, and one of the things we are sure on is that we have a good squad,” Nuno said. “We have good options and we have healthy players – this is not an if, this is a reality.”
Beyond potential attacking additions, Forest are also dealing with interest in some of their own players. Republic of Ireland defender Andrew Omobamidele has suitors from England and abroad, while forward Emmanuel Dennis is expected to leave this month after being left out of Nuno’s 25-man squad.
The club is also working on securing contract extensions for key players, including Chris Wood and Ola Aina, while owner Evangelos Marinakis is leading negotiations for a new deal with Brazilian defender Murillo.
Forest, who have their sights set on European qualification, will return to action on Sunday against Southampton.
