Enyimba FC’s struggles continued as they were held to a goalless draw by Sunshine Stars at the Enyimba Stadium in a Nigeria Premier Football League encounter on Wednesday.
This marked their seventh consecutive game without a win (five in the NPFL and two in the CAF Confederation Cup), piling pressure on young coach Yemi Olanrewaju.
The People’s Elephants have been plagued by a lack of goals, scoring just twice in their last five league matches. Their home form has been particularly disappointing, with three consecutive matches without a win or a goal.
Olanrewaju’s appointment followed the departure of George Finidi to the Super Eagles. The young coach now faces a daunting task to revive Enyimba’s fortunes.
The team’s next fixture, a crucial CAF Confederation Cup clash against Mozambique’s Black Bulls, is a must-win. A victory would provide a much-needed boost and keep their hopes alive in Group D, which also includes Egyptian giants Zamalek and Al Masry.
