Enyimba head coach Yemi Olanrewaju has taken full responsibility for the team’s recent struggles, acknowledging their poor run of results in both domestic and continental competitions and promising to turn things around.
The People’s Elephants have endured a seven-game winless streak, including a disappointing start to their CAF Confederation Cup campaign.
The team’s attacking woes have been particularly evident, with three consecutive home matches ending in goalless draws. This poor run of form has left Enyimba seventh in the Nigerian Premier League, seven points behind the leaders.
Olanrewaju, known as “Yema,” addressed the situation publicly, admitting the disappointing results but emphasizing that they do not reflect the team’s overall performance. He attributed the slump to missed scoring opportunities while remaining optimistic about a turnaround.
“Nobody cares how well you are playing when the results are not most favorable,” Olanrewaju wrote on X. “We have dominated most games this season, creating multiple chances but failing to convert them. As the head, I take full responsibility and know we will get it right soon.”
Despite the setbacks, Olanrewaju’s confidence suggests that brighter days may lie ahead for the People’s Elephant as they work to rediscover their winning form.
