Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC) Shehu Dikko, has expressed his excitement for the new FIFA project inside the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja which will be formally unveiled during the month.

The FIFA project includes the construction of world class facilities such as the new NFF Hotel and new training pitches, with the aim of creating an ideal environment for Nigeria’s national teams to prepare and train ahead of international competitions.

As part of the preparation for the unveiling, Shehu Dikko along with the NFF President Ibrahim Musa Gusau and his team inspected the proposed site of the FIFA Forward Project 3.0 on Wednesday.

Shehu Dikko explained the importance of the project on his official X page, stating its benefits to the national teams: “The ambitious project comprising the NFF Hotel and New Training Pitches is designed to establish state-of-the-art accommodation and training facilities intended specifically for the national football teams,” he said.

“This is expected to provide a conducive atmosphere for national teams training, free NFF of the humongous expenses incurred regularly in accommodating the different national teams and could be commercialized as an international training site for other national teams to generate revenues,” Shehu Dikko added.

”This project in clearly in alignment with the vision and objectives of the NSC. The NSC is therefore, committed to supporting the NFF and indeed FIFA to ensure the success of and full utilization of this project,” the Chairman concluded.

The new FIFA project is a positive step forward, reflecting the efforts of the National Sports Commission and the Nigerian Football Federation to enhance Nigeria’s competitiveness in future tournaments, particularly in light of recent underwhelming results.
