Nigeria’s Junior Female Yellow Greens cricket team captain, Lucky Piety, was ecstatic as she reflected on their historic victory over New Zealand, describing it as a monumental accomplishment for both the team and the nation.
Lucky Piety played a pivotal role in the team’s success, winning the player of the match award while contributing 18 runs off 22 balls and claiming 1 wicket for 8 runs in 3 overs, showcasing her all-around skills. She also etched her name in the history books by hitting the first-ever SIX for a Nigerian women’s team in an ICC World Cup.

After they stunned New Zealand to secure their first-ever win in the ICC Women’s U19 T20 World Cup, Captain Lucky Piety expressed her pride in the team’s historic achievement.
”This win is huge. It is a milestone we’ve achieved as a team and as a country. New Zealand is a very strong side and of course one of the superpowers in cricket,” she said.
“It’s a great feeling to secure this historic win against New Zealand in such a game and in such situation. We stuck with the basics and tried to remain as calm as possible to ensure ,” the Captain added.
With their first win secured, The Junior Female Yellow Greens will face their next challenge against South Africa on January 22, eager to continue their momentum.
