Remo Stars’ Head Coach, Daniel Ogunmodede, has heaped praise on his players following their hard-fought 2-1 win over Kano Pillars at their home ground in Ikenne on Saturday.
The game which was crucial for Kano Pillars after recent setbacks saw Remo Stars surge ahead with a two-goal cushion thanks to strikes from Sikiru Alimi and Ibrahim Abubakar, however, Abba Adam pulled one back to restore hope for the visitors. Undeterred, Remo Stars dug deep to preserve their lead and claim all three points.
The vital victory enabled Remo Stars to retain their eight-point advantage at the top of the table, ahead of second-placed Shooting Stars, who also claimed a 1-0 win over Bendel Insurance. Also, the result marked a memorable double for Remo Stars over Kano Pillars, following their 2-0 triumph in the reverse fixture.
In his post-match remarks, Daniel Ogunmodede recognized the enormity of the challenge his team faced, but ultimately lauded his players for their resilience and determination in claiming all crucial three points.
“It was a difficult match for us today, we played a team with a massive reputation in the league. They’re probably the best in the North and one of the best in the country based on their achievements. In the last three games they’ve not won a match, so they came here with the intention to get something to compensate for their hard time and that made it a very difficult game for us,” he said.
”We scored early but we struggled a lot in the game. For me it’s one of those days in football where things can go like this, but you need to get the maximum three points and that is the character the team showed. We didn’t play to our best but we got the three points,” Ogunmodede added.

Looking forward to their next game against Rangers International, Ogunmodede stressed the need to take advantage of the moments during the match: “No game is difficult and no game is simple for us, it depends on what you come across. Some games you preempt it’s going to be difficult, they come so cheap. Some games you think they’re going to be cheap, they come so difficult,” he said.
”The moments in the game is the decider and that was what happened today. It really doesn’t matter the team we are playing but the moments in the game. The game will decide itself. We will prepare and we hope we’ll get it right,” the head coach declared.
