France U-21 coach, Thierry Henry, has seemingly ended speculation over the international future of highly-rated winger Michael Olise stating that the highly sought after Crystal Palace winger is eager to play for French senior national team.

Olise, born in London, England is eligible to play for Nigeria and Algeria through his father and mother respectively.

The Crystal Palace star was a surprise omission from Didier Deschamps’ France squad for the ongoing European Championship, sparking interest from the English FA and the Nigerian Football Federation.

Olise has previously played for France at U-18 and U-21 levels and has been included in Henry’s squad for the upcoming Olympics in Paris.

Speaking at a press conference which was reported by The Mirror, Henry said, “We know that he has plenty of possibilities but he wants to play for France.

“You have to highlight his desire to show that he wants to play for the French team.

“If he was English, he would have already left to play for England. He could have made the other choice and played the Euros with the England team, like his team-mate Eberechi Eze at Crystal Palace but he wants to play for France, knowing that he wouldn’t play in the Euros.”

Olise’s international decision comes alongside a looming club transfer.

The young star is reportedly set to join Bayern Munich, snubbing interest from Chelsea, Newcastle United, Manchester United, and Manchester City.

Vincent Kompany’s Bayern looks poised to secure the talented winger, further confirming Olise’s plans to leave England.
