Nigeria’s Junior Female Yellow Greens have qualified for the next round of the ICC Women’s Under-19 T20 World Cup despite suffering a defeat at the hands of South Africa in their final group match.

Regardless of the loss, the team’s impressive performance in earlier fixtures earned them a spot in the Super 6, a remarkable achievement in their debut tournament, demonstrating their determination and resilience.

While their first fixture against Samoa ended with a point apiece after the game was abandoned due to a wet outfield, the team stunned New Zealand to secure 2 points in their second game, setting up an electrifying encounter against South Africa.

Captain of the side, Lucky Piety delivered a standout performance once again, securing the team’s first wicket before a rain interruption halted the game temporarily.

Although the Nigerian team put up a strong fight, they ultimately fell to a determined and experienced South African side by 41 runs (DLS) in a thrilling encounter.

By finishing second in Group C, the Junior Female Yellow Greens have secured a spot in the Super Six alongside England, Ireland, and group winners South Africa.
