Quadri Aruna is embracing the challenge of defending his Men’s Singles title at the 2025 ITTF Africa Cup, set to begin on Tuesday, February 25, in Tunis, Tunisia.
The five-time champion remains optimistic despite the fierce competition ahead. At 36, he believes he has nothing to lose and is ready to take on both seasoned rivals and rising stars.
“At 36, I have nothing to lose. I’m fully prepared to compete against everyone, including young talents like Wassim Essid, who is already seen as the future African champion,” Aruna said. “For me, it’s been years of success, and if we make it to the final again, it shows we still have a lot to offer.”
The Nigerian table tennis star acknowledges the heightened competition but remains unfazed.
“I anticipate it will be more challenging this time, but I’m ready to give my best and see how things unfold,” he added.
Aruna will be looking to extend his dominance on the continent as the tournament gets underway in Tunisia’s capital.
