In a recent interview with Brila.net, Nasarawa United defender, Victor Collins was resolute in his team’s ambition, stating unequivocally that their sole objective is to secure qualification for the upcoming African Nations Championship in 2025.

The Super Eagles B team will visit the 40,000 capacity Accra Sports Stadium to face Ghana on Sunday, 22nd December, before hosting the Black Stars at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, on Saturday, 28th December. The winner over two legs will earn a spot in the African Nations Championship.

Nigeria failed to secure a spot in the previous edition as they lost to Ghana in the final qualifying match via a tense penalty-shootout. As such, the team will be determined to edge their West-African counterparts to qualify for the tournament holding in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.

“The most important thing we are focusing on is the qualification of the team because it is very important” Collins said. “Since 2018, we have missed two editions of the tournament, and we don’t want to be in that situation again. We just want to qualify,” he added.

Collins also reflected on the Super Eagles B 1-0 win over Grassrunners FC, acknowledging how tough it was to defeat the high-spirited opposition: “The match we played was very good. The boys we played against were fantastic. You know when you are playing against the National team, you want to prove a point,” he asserted.
