Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze is reportedly on the verge of joining Turkish club Trabzonspor on loan from Serie A giants AC Milan for the remainder of the season, according to Turkish media.
The Black Sea Storm, are keen to bolster their attacking options as they aim for a strong second half of the season and a potential spot in European competitions.
Reports indicate that a loan agreement has been finalized between AC Milan and Trabzonspor, with the deal including an option for a permanent transfer based on Chukwueze’s performance during the loan spell.
Chukwueze joined AC Milan in the summer of 2023 from Villarreal for a fee of €21 million but has struggled to make a significant impact. The 24-year-old Nigeria international has registered just six goals and four assists in 55 appearances across all competitions for the Rossoneri, falling short of the high expectations placed on him.
Despite the promising deal, there’s a notable complication. Chukwueze sustained an injury during Milan’s 1-1 draw against AS Roma in their final match of 2024, leaving him sidelined for several weeks. This raises questions about his readiness to contribute immediately upon joining Trabzonspor.
The move also follows earlier speculation linking Chukwueze to Besiktas and even Premier League side Arsenal, who are reportedly seeking reinforcements after losing Bukayo Saka to injury.
However, Trabzonspor’s interest appears to stem from Chukwueze’s similarity to their influential star Anthony Nwakaeme. Known for his trickery, pace, and athleticism, the 25-year-old winger’s ability to beat defenders has drawn comparisons to Nwakaeme who is a beloved player at the club.
