AC Milan new signing, Samuel Chukwueze has revealed that his decision to join the Italian giants was fuelled by his friend and Super Eagles teammate, Victor Osimhen.

Chukwueze on Thursday was unveiled as a new Milan player in a deal reported to be worth €20m plus up to €8m in various add-ons and performance-related bonuses. The 24-year-old becomes the third Eagles player to join the Rossoneri after Taribo West and Taye Taiwo.

Speaking with Milan media, the former Yellow Submarine player said at first, he thought the club being linked to him was a joke. He also noted that the moment he knew the offer was real, he never had a doubt about joining them.

“It was c***y, I was a little bit nervous. Milan fans sent me messages, they are amazing people and that was one of the reasons I came here.

“When they told me about the approach, I thought they were joking. I didn’t think about it twice.”

Chukwueze is a long-term friend of Osimhen as both players were in the Nigerian U-17 team that won the FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2015. The tricky winger revealed that Osimhen was full of praise for Milan and encouraged him to join the club.

“Osimhen said: ‘Samuel, Milan is the best club, don’t hesitate to sign for them. They are fantastic, the fans are amazing, they are c***y about football.’

“He was a major role also in making me sign for AC Milan, as he said I should come to Italy.”
