Nigerian striker Chukwubuikem Ikwuemesi ended a seven-game goal drought in spectacular fashion, scoring two late goals to propel Oud-Heverlee Leuven to a 2-0 victory over Beerschot FC in their final Jupiler League match of 2024.
After a tightly contested first half with several missed opportunities, a goalless draw seemed imminent. However, Ikwuemesi broke the deadlock in the 76th minute and sealed the win with his second goal in the 86th minute.

These goals bring Ikwuemesi’s season tally to four in 19 league games. This is his second brace of the season, following a double against Sporting Charleroi in October, which also ended a 10-game scoreless streak for the 23-year-old.
OH Leuven, now with five wins this season, climbed to 10th place in the league.
Manager Chris Coleman praised the team’s performance and singled out Ikwuemesi’s goals as crucial for securing maximum points and ending the year on a high note.
“The start was a bit nervous, but we played excellent football in the second half,” Coleman said after the win. “We created numerous chances and scored two fantastic goals through Charlie. I am delighted for the players, the fans, and the club. We enter the winter break with a positive feeling.”
Ikwuemesi will be eager to maintain this scoring form and contribute more goals to the team’s success in the new year.
