Nottingham Forest striker Chris Wood has lauded teammate and Super Eagles forward Taiwo Awoniyi for his resilience, following the Nigerian’s first goal of the season in their 3-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday.

Awoniyi, who entered the game as an 88th-minute substitute for Wood, capitalized on a pass from James Ward-Prowse, tapping the ball into an empty net in the 94th minute to break his scoring drought.

Awoniyi last found the back of the net for Forest in their 2-0 win over West Ham united on February 17th, 2024.

Prior to this campaign, Awoniyi had been a key goal-scorer for Forest. However, this season has seen him relegated to the bench, often receiving limited playing time, hindering his impact.
