Chima Moneke exploded for a game-high 24 points, leading Baskonia to a nail-biting 69-67 win over Bilbao Basket in the Liga ACB on Sunday. This crucial victory snapped a two-game losing streak and marked their first league win in nearly a month.
Baskonia dominated the first three quarters, building a nine-point advantage heading into the final frame. However, Bilbao staged a furious comeback, nearly erasing the deficit and forcing a tense finish.
Moneke, a key starter for Pablo Laso’s squad, delivered one of his most impressive performances of the season. In addition to his 24 points, he contributed eight rebounds and four assists, earning him the well-deserved MVP award.
Tadas Sedekerskis was the only other Baskonia player to reach double figures, scoring 12 points with six rebounds and four assists. Center Donta Hall added nine points, seven rebounds, and an assist.
Tryggvi Hlinason led Bilbao with 17 points, but no other player reached double digits.
Baskonia will now look to build on this momentum as they face off against Italy’s Virtus Bologna in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague on Thursday.
