Nigerian international Chidera Ejuke has made a welcome return to team training with Spanish club Sevilla, following a lengthy recovery period from a severe hamstring injury that sidelined him for nearly three months.

Sevilla’s official X account broke the exciting news with a post featuring Chidera Ejuke in the team’s training gear. The Nigerian also received a warm welcome from his Sevilla teammates as they celebrated his return to training, clearly thrilled to have him back.

The 27-year-old winger suffered a hamstring injury just before halftime during Sevilla’s 5-1 thrashing at the hands of Barcelona at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys, and was subsequently substituted out for Albert Sambi Lokonga.

After making an initial return to training on the grass in early December, Ejuke is now fully recovered and match-fit, paving the way for his comeback to competitive action with Sevilla as they push to climb into the top half of the La Liga standings.

Before his injury, Chidera Ejuke was enjoying a strong start to his Sevilla career, having joined from Royal Antwerp. He scored one goal in nine La Liga appearances, showcasing his impressive skillset and dribbling abilities, which added a significant attacking threat to the Spanish team.

The Super Eagles winger was also recognized for his stellar performances with Sevilla, earning the club’s Player of the Month award for September.

Sevilla will be thrilled to have Chidera Ejuke back in team training, having felt the absence of his attacking prowess. The team will be energized by his return and eager to see him back in action as they gear up for the upcoming fixtures and challenges ahead.

Still reeling from their stunning 4-1 defeat to second-tier Almeria in the Copa del Rey, Sevilla will be seeking redemption when they return to La Liga action against Sadiq Umar’s Valencia on Saturday, January 11.
