Fulham’s Calvin Bassey is set to miss their crucial clash against Liverpool next Saturday after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season in their 1-1 draw with Arsenal.
The Nigerian defender was booked in the 72nd minute, triggering a one-match suspension. This absence is a significant blow for Fulham, who have relied heavily on Bassey’s defensive prowess throughout the season.
Despite the setback, Bassey’s performance against Arsenal was commendable. He played a vital role in Fulham’s solid defensive display, frustrating the title-chasing Gunners and preventing them from closing the gap on Liverpool.
Marco Silva, Fulham’s manager, will be forced to find a solution to fill the void left by Bassey and Joachim Andersen, who is sidelined with an Achilles tendon injury.
Bassey has played every second of Fulham’s first 15 games of the season creating a solid partnership with Issa Diop and Joachim Andersen in the left-hand of the center-back.
Bassy’s yellow cards this season came against Manchester United, Manchester City, Aston Villa, Wolves and now against Arsenal.
