Super Eagles forward, Victor Boniface, has returned to training with Bayer Leverkusen after his mega-money deal to join Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr failed to materialize.

Boniface had been excused from Leverkusen’s training on Tuesday due to strong interest from Al Nassr and was not listed for their UEFA Champions League game against Sparta Prague on Wednesday as the conversation over the deal continued.

A report on Tuesday revealed that both clubs had agreed on a €60 million transfer fee with the player expected to earn an annual net pay of €16m, however, the deal fell through after the Saudi club failed to give a final green light but instead signed Jhon Duran from Aston Villa for €77m.

It was revealed after Leverkusen’s Champions League win on Wednesday that Boniface will return to training ahead of their next Bundesliga outing against Hoffenheim on Sunday, February 2nd.

The Nigeria international showed pictures of himself in training with a funny caption, “Jingle all the way through your calls with this Hello Tune! Reply 1 or Dial *790*15# to download Feliz by Chinedu Egbulefu for 7 days FREE,” Boniface wrote on X.

Boniface recently returned from an injury that had kept him out of action since November 2024 while on international duty with the Super Eagles. He will be looking to hit the ground running and increase his current tally of eight goals in 15 games across all competitions.
