Benjamin Tanimu collaborates with Edo FA, donates to grassroot football

Super Eagles and Crawley Town defender, Benjamin Tanimu has decided to give back to his community by partnering with the Edo State Football Association to host a football tournament aimed at promoting grassroots football and encouraging young footballers.

The football tournament will be played between U15 football clubs across the three senatorial districts of the state and outstanding players will be awarded for their achievements.

The former Bendel Insurance defender donated a trophy to the Edo FA for the winners of the tournament while other accolades including the top scorer award, most valuable player award, best midfielder, best goalkeeper, best defender and other tournament souvenirs will be awarded to deserving players.

Chairman of the Edo FA, Fred Newton Erhunmwunse disclosed that the Paragon Sports Academy product is impressed with sport development in Edo, and he is keen to contribute his quota to the growth of the game.

“I want to inform us that in the next few days, we shall begin the process of another big event in Edo state for our youth clubs, this time for U15. Former Bendel Insurance player, Benjamin Tanimu has donated a trophy to Edo FA to engage the U15s. The tournament will take place across the three senatorial districts of the state,” the Chairman disclosed while speaking to the press in Benin City.

”Benjamin came through the grassroots and he was a huge success here in Benin City with Bendel Insurance. He is impressed with our programs and wants to contribute to what we have done since 2023. We are grateful to him and we promise to deliver as usual,” he added.

While the date for the tournament has not yet been officially announced, the Edo FA chairman encouraged various youth teams to begin their preparations as the registration for the event will commence soonest.

The impressive collaboration showcases Tanimu’s commitment to using his platform for the greater good. By leveraging his fame and resources, the 22-year-old aims to create opportunities for younger players to develop their skills, while also supporting local community programs.
