Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey will miss Fulham’s Premier League clash against league leaders Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday due to suspension.

Bassey received his fifth yellow card of the season during Fulham’s last outing against Arsenal for a cynical challenge, ruling him out of the next match.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Fulham manager Marco Silva confirmed the Nigerian’s unavailability along with other absentees.

“No fresh news, really, just Joachim [Andersen] and Harrison Reed, plus Reiss Nelson from the game we played against Brighton. They are going to be out for the game, and of course, the third game of Tom Cairney, plus the fifth yellow card from Calvin Bassey,” Silva said.

Bassey, who has been pivotal to Fulham’s solid performances this season, will serve a one-match ban but is expected to return for next Sunday’s home clash against Southampton at Craven Cottage.

The 24-year-old’s absence will be a blow for Fulham, who currently sit 10th in the Premier League table after 15 games.
