The Basketball Africa League (BAL) has appointed former Nigerian D’Tigers coach, Sam Vincent, as the Camp Director for the 2025 BAL Combine, scheduled to take place in Rabat, Morocco from January 10-12.

The 2025 BAL Combine will bring together over 30 emerging talents from Africa, Europe, the US, and globally for a three-day showcase at the Ibn Yassine Omnisports Hall. Participants will undergo physical assessments, skill drills, and competitive 5-on-5 matches, all under the scrutiny of BAL team representatives, coaches, and scouts.

Sam Vincent’s coaching staff for the 2025 BAL Combine will include a group of talented coaches who honed their skills through the Africa Coaches Program at the NBA 2K25 Summer League in Las Vegas.

Speaking on Sam’s appointment, President of the Basketball Africa League Amadou Gallo Fall expressed his excitement, asserting that the Olympian has played a major role in basketball development in Africa.

“We are thrilled to have Sam Vincent join us as BAL Combine Camp Director ahead of our pivotal BAL milestone fifth season,” he said.

“Sam has been an active and integral part of our basketball development efforts in Africa, including the inaugural 2003 Africa 100 Camp (Basketball Without Borders (BWB) Africa Camp in South Africa.”

“For many years, Sam has worked tirelessly as a coach and mentor, supporting the growth of the African basketball ecosystem. His experience at the highest levels as a professional player, National Team Head Coach, and NBA Head Coach will be invaluable assets for Combine players, coaches, and our league,” Amadou Gallo declared.

Sam Vincent boasts an impressive coaching resume, having led D’Tigress to several historic achievements. Under his leadership, the national team secured their maiden Olympic win in Athens in 2004, a milestone that also marked the first-ever Olympic victory by an African team. Furthermore, Vincent coached the D’Tigers to a remarkable second-round finish at the 2006 World Cup.

Additionally, he notably guided D’Tigress to their third Afrobasket championship in Mali in 2017. He was however sacked in 2018 prior to the 2018 FIBA Women World Cup in Tenerife, Spain.
