The Club Classics League, a new exciting basketball tournament, is poised to tip off in Oyo State on February 17th at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Adamsingba, Ibadan, ushering in a new era for basketball in the state.
According to Barrister Damola Awosika, Vice Chairman of the Oyo State Basketball Association, the tournament’s main objectives are to promote basketball in the state and provide a competitive platform for local players to showcase their skills.
In his words: “Our primary goal is to promote basketball in the state, fulfilling one of my mandates as a board member of the state basketball association,” he said.
“Secondly, we aim to offer a competitive platform for players in the state to showcase their skills, whilst giving particular focus to development of the younger players,” the Vice Chairman added.

The tournament prioritizes youth development by requiring participating teams to include U18 players, who must also receive guaranteed playing time during the tournament.

Registration for the tournament will conclude on February 7th, 2025 and participation is exclusive to teams from Oyo State, fostering a spirited community competition. The event also welcomes both male and female teams, embracing inclusivity irrespective of gender.
