Babajide David Akintola grabbed a brace for Adana Demirspor in their 5-0 thrashing of Kasimpasa in a Turkish Super Lig encounter on Saturday as they continue their push for a finish in the Europa League spot.
The Nigerian opened the scoring for Adana in the 18th minute before completing his brace in the 21st minute. Yusuf Sari scored the third for the hosts in the 27th minute ensuring that they went into the half time break with a 3-0 margin.
The second half saw the hosts control the play just like they did in the first half but despite their dominance, the goals came in late. Badou Ndiaye made it 4-0 in the 80th minute while Younes Belhanda scored Adana’s 5th goal in the 90th minute from the penalty spot.
The brace takes his goals tally to six in the season from 24 games also seeing him end his five-game goalless streak.
While Babajide was in action for 77 minutes making way for Emre Akbaba, his compatriot Henry Onyekuru featured for 24 minutes after coming on for Badou Ndiaye in the 66th minute.
After six goals in his first 16 games for Adana, Onyekuru has suffered from a dip in form that has seen him go the last eight games without a goal. The dip has also seen him come off the bench in two of his last three appearances for the club.
