Taiwo Awoniyi has been nominated for the Premier League’s Player of the Month Award for August after his impressive performance for Nottingham Forest in the opening month of the 2023/24 league season.
The Super Eagles striker scored three league goals in three appearances in August finding the back of the net in each game. He was on target against Arsenal and Manchester United and grabbed the opening goal in Forest’s 2-1 win over Sheffield United.

Awoniyi will slug it out with Manchester United’s Rodri, West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen, Tottenham Hotspurs’ James Maddison, Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, and Brighton’s Kaoru Mitoma.

Mitoma scored once and provided two assists in August for Brighton, helping his side earn wins against Luton and Wolves. Rodri found the back of the net twice in the month and provided one assist also helping City win all three games in the league.

Bowen has impressed this season. He was on target twice in August and also provided an assist to help the Hammers stay unbeaten. James Maddison provided two assists and scored once for a resurgent Tottenham while Mbeuno also scored three goals in August.
Awoniyi is currently on international duty with Nigeria for a dead-rubber Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
