Anthony George: Ibadan basketball Championship will help discover new talent

The 4th edition of the Ibadan Basketball Championship is set to take place on January 17th and 18th, 2025, at the Adamasingba Stadium Basketball Court in Ibadan.

According to Anthony George, a member of the organizing committee, “Each of the editions are special. The effort of all the Ibadan basketball players in diaspora is to give back to our community.”

George revealed that the championship holds sentimental value for the organizers. He stated, “Each one of us started our basketball from Ibadan (Adamasingba), it’s special to us.”

The primary objective of the championship, as explained by George, is to promote basketball development and uncover new talent. He said, “The goal is to ensure the development of the game and discover new talent that might have better opportunities within and outside the country.”

This 4th edition of the tournament promises to be an exciting event, featuring top male and female basketball teams, wheelchair basketball, cash prizes, live music, food, and community activities. The winning team will receive an instant cash prize of ₦850,000.
