Super Eagles midfielder, Alex Iwobi, is set to sign a £100,000-a-week contract at Everton in a deal that would see him extend his stay at the Goodison Park for another three-and-a-half years.
Iwobi, whose contract at Everton is due to expire in the summer of 2024 has been in an impressive form under Frank Lampard this season, a situation that has led the Toffees to enter into contract extension talks with the Nigerian.
The 27-year-old joined the Merseyside team in the summer of 2019 from boyhood club Arsenal on deadline day for a deal worth €30.4m. The Nigeria international failed to replicate the form that made the Premier League side splash the money on him in his first three seasons but that changed this campaign as he’s been arguably Everton’s best player.
Despite scoring just one goal this season in 15 league games, he’s provided five assists, making him the third-joint player with the most assists in the league behind Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne (9) and Bukayo Saka (6).
The new deal is expected to keep the player at the club till 2027.
