The President of the Nigerian American Football Association (NAFA), Babajide Akeredolu, says the association remains committed to expanding the American football community in Nigeria, adding that the sport is here to stay.
Speaking at a special Super Bowl Watch Party in Lagos, Akeredolu said NAFA is creating opportunities for Nigerians through American football.

The watch party, which took place in both Lagos and Abuja, featured the NFL Super Bowl LIV showdown, where the Philadelphia Eagles emerged victorious in New Orleans.
NAFA organised the event to bring together American football fans from across the country for a fun-filled celebration of the sport.
According to Akeredolu, NAFA, in partnership with Fan Africa Entertainment, is working to promote the Cleveland Browns brand, increase awareness of American football, and engage Nigeria’s growing football community.
The event attracted over 300 fans, which, according to the organizers, reflects the increasing interest in American football in Nigeria, particularly among young people. It also highlighted NAFA’s efforts to develop the sport in the country.
“The Super Bowl Watch Party marked a significant milestone in NAFA’s efforts to grow American football in Nigeria,” Akeredolu said.

“By combining immersive experiences, interactive activities, and strategic partnerships, this event successfully engaged both existing fans and newcomers.
“With a strong turnout and enthusiastic participation, the watch party has the potential for American football to thrive in Nigeria, particularly among the younger generation.
“NAFA plans to build on this success, with more events and initiatives aimed at fostering a vibrant American football community in the country.”
