Nottingham Forest missed an opportunity to exploit Manchester City’s recent struggles, falling 3-0 at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night.
Super Eagles defender Ola Aina played 63 minutes but couldn’t prevent the dominant Premier League champions from ending their poor run in emphatic fashion.
Bernardo Silva set the tone early, scoring within 10 minutes from a Kevin De Bruyne assist. De Bruyne, who was making his first start since September, doubled City’s lead before halftime, firing home a powerful shot from 15 yards after receiving a pass from compatriot Jeremy Doku.
City maintained their intensity in the second half, sealing the win when Doku scored his second Premier League goal of the season.
Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi entered the match in the 63rd minute, aiming to spark a comeback for Nuno Espírito Santo’s side, but Forest couldn’t break through City’s solid defense.
Before this match, City had failed to earn a point in four Premier League games and were winless in seven outings across all competitions.
The win lifts them back into the top four, while Nottingham Forest remain in sixth place on the table.
