Ola Aina has been named in the BBC Premier League Team of the Week compiled by former Watford captain Troy Deeney, following his impressive performance in Nottingham Forest’s 2-0 victory over Brentford on Saturday.
Aina opened the scoring in the 38th minute with a well-taken goal before Anthony Elanga doubled the lead in the 51st minute to secure all three points for Forest.
Deeney commended Aina’s performance, saying: “Another great win for Nottingham Forest, beating Brentford at their place. He looks solid defensively and is a great option going forward as well, as shown by his goal.”
Other players in Deeney’s Team of the Week included Kepa Arrizabalaga, whose clean sheet helped Bournemouth beat Manchester United 3-0, and Trent Alexander-Arnold, who impressed for Liverpool with his attacking contributions. James Tarkowski (Everton) and Dean Huijsen (Bournemouth) rounded off the defense.
In midfield, Dominik Szoboszlai (Liverpool), Matheus Cunha (Wolves), and Thomas Partey (Arsenal) were recognized, while the forward line featured Liverpool’s Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah alongside Newcastle’s Alexander Isak who scored a hattrick in Newcastle’s 4-0 demolition of newly promoted side Ipswich Town.
Aina has been a key figure in a Nottingham Forest who are fourth on the Premier League table with two goals already this season.
His impressive feat has seen Forests hoping to tie him to a new deal with a pay rise after his contract expires at the end of the season.
