Super Eagles forward Ahmed Musa required a security escort to exit the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium after fans swarmed the pitch in an attempt to take pictures with the Kano Pillars striker.
Supporters from both Rivers United and Kano Pillars flooded the field after the match, eager to meet the Nigeria international and former Leicester City player.
Videos shared online captured the chaotic but celebratory scene as fans lifted Musa onto their shoulders, despite Kano Pillars suffering a 1-0 defeat.
Security operatives worked for several minutes to restore order and safely escort the 32-year-old off the pitch and into the dressing room.
Musa returned to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) this season alongside his Super Eagles teammate Shehu Abdullahi after unsuccessful attempts to secure contracts abroad. Their presence has revitalized Kano Pillars’ fanbase, drawing large crowds to the stadium and boosting interest in league matches.
This marks Musa’s second high-profile return to the NPFL. He previously rejoined the league in 2021 after departing Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr. His current stint follows the termination of his contract with Turkish Süper Lig side Sivasspor.
In nine league appearances for Kano Pillars this season, Musa has been instrumental, scoring five goals and providing two assists. His contributions have helped the club climb to 11th on the league table after 14 matches.
