Rwanda Head Coach, Torsten Spittler, is confident his team can upset Nigeria’s Super Eagles in their second Group D 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
Despite Nigeria’s star-studded lineup and recent dominance, Spittler believes Rwanda is prepared to challenge the West African giants. The Amavubi will be aiming to break their five-game losing streak against the Eagles and secure their first group-stage victory in the qualifiers.

Nigeria, on the other hand, is looking to build on their impressive 3-0 win over Benin in their opening match. With players like Ademola Lookman and Victor Osimhen, they are considered strong favorites.
Spittler, however, remains optimistic: “We’ve been making good progress, and our performances have been encouraging. Nigeria is a formidable team, but we’re ready to compete and showcase our abilities.”

A victory for Nigeria would solidify their position at the top of Group D and give them a significant advantage heading into their October doubleheader against Libya.
A victory for Rwanda would significantly shake up Group D, making it a more competitive race. The Amavubi previously secured a 1-1 draw against Libya in their opening group match in Tripoli last Wednesday.
