Ademola Lookman’s exceptional Champions League displays have been recognized with a selection in the WhoScored Team of the League Phase, a testament to his outstanding contributions for Atalanta.
Atalanta’s Champions League campaign ultimately fell short of automatic qualification for the round of 16, as they drew 2-2 with Barcelona on Wednesday, finishing ninth on the table, just one point behind Bayer Leverkusen, Lille and Aston Villa who finished sixth, seventh, and eight respectively.
Notably, Ademola Lookman was absent from the match due to an injury sustained prior to the game, which will also keep him sidelined for upcoming Serie A fixtures.
Despite his untimely injury, Ademola Lookman’s overall Champions League campaign was truly exceptional. He amassed an impressive four goals and one assist, including a memorable strike against reigning champions Real Madrid.

The WhoScored Team of the League Phase boasts an impressive lineup, featuring Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and a stellar back four comprising Achraf Hakimi (PSG), Ryan Flamingo (PSV), Gabriel Maghalães (Arsenal), and Alejandro Grimaldo (Bayer Leverkusen).
The midfield includes Barcelona duo Lamine Yamal and Belloli Raphinha, as well as Malik Tillman (PSV) and Florian Wirtz (Bayer Leverkusen). Ademola Lookman is joined in attack by Real Madrid superstar Vinicius Junior to complete the star-studded team.
With their playoff spot secured, Atalanta will now anxiously await Friday’s champions league draw which will determine their next opponent between Sporting CP or Club Brugge.
Atalanta will then hope to get Ademola Lookman back to full fitness, as his absence could significantly impact their chances of advancing to the Champions League round of 16.
